Key Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesOur Elwood, Illinois location converts the tissue or paper used in private label bath and facial tissue for grocery stores across the U.S. The Electrician is responsible for all electrical functions of machines and equipment across the paper facility including preventive and non-preventive maintenance. Operational and Quality Control

  • Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC input/output modules and all associated control wiring
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise of analog and digital controls with 480V, 3 phase power distribution systems, motors, variable frequency drives, servo drives, and soft starts
  • Maintain and troubleshoot position feedback devices -encoders, load cells.
  • Programming and troubleshooting of PLC and HMI interfaces.
  • Perform configuration and logic modifications to PLC control systems. Modifications will include programming in ladder logic.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose configuration and implementation of integrated and stand-alone graphic human machine interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose -specification of communication protocols, including Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues utilizing electrical schematics
  • Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles, conveyors, and production equipmentSafety and Housekeeping
    • Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE, etc.)
    • Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
    • Ensure work environment is clean and free from debrisEducation/Experience
      • High School Diploma or equivalent required
      • Minimum 2 years of related education (Associates Degree) required and 2 years experience.
      • Demonstrated experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), servo systems required
      • Experienced in working with computerized maintenance system preferred
      • Experience with troubleshooting and performing maintenance on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred
      • Internal candidates must have completed a minimum of Level 5 QualificationSkills/Abilities
        • Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confine spaces, personal protective equipment, etc.) preferred
        • PLC programming preferred
        • Ability to work on a variety of machines (Perini rewinders, UNO wrappers, Infinity wrappers, folded machines, etc.) preferred
        • Experience with electrical encoders, servomotors, and amplifiers preferred
        • Proficient with electrical schematics and able to modify and update drawings as needed preferredIllustrative Essential Functions
          • Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
          • Able to wear and comply with all personal protective equipment (Eye and ear protection, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, etc.)
          • Able to lift, up to 25 lbs frequently, between 20 to 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Electrician will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
          • Able to use a variety of different machines, equipment, and tools efficiently and following all proper safety protocols (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, nuts and bolts, wiring, wiring caps, wire slicers, fork truck, manlift, etc.)
          • Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
          • Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and Holidays.
