2nd: Mon-Fri, 3p - 11:30p
3rd: Thurs - Sun, 10pm - 6:30am
Using work orders, plans, charts, listings, and verbal directions, the Machinist III sets up and operates computer numeric controlled (CNC) work centers to create a wide variety of standard and unique component parts. These parts, which are employed in the production of pneumatic cylinders, will be more complicated than typical.

  • To meet production scheduling requirements, work at the primary CNC machining center and cycle between other CNC and traditional work centers on a regular basis.
  • In the work centers, install and modify various types of tools and fixtures. --- Set machine feeds and speeds and insert computer programs.
  • Raw materials are cut and/or positioned into the machine's central jaws and fixtures.
  • Progress the first component through the first run, assessing and making key tooling modifications, and adjusting computer programs and work center operating settings.
  • To manufacture stated quantities of component components, perform progressive turning, drilling, milling, and tapping operations that are above
  • average in complexity.

    Continuously monitor ongoing operations through machine cycles, and load and unload work centers as needed.

    • Examine parts for specified dimensions as well as surface flaws.
    • Tooling, materials, programs, equipment, and part specs are all troubleshooted and resolved. To increase machine capability, identify and recommend improvements to part specifications.
    • Make any necessary adjustments to the cutting tools.
    • Prepare the necessary papers and file it in a specified spot.
    • As needed, do preventative maintenance.
    • For new jobs or sample runs, select tooling as needed.
    • As needed, make software changes and document them.
    • Assist and instruct lower-level machinists by responding to work queries, addressing operational issues, and reviewing completed work assignments.
    • Will be needed to undergo a 30-day, 60-day, or 90-day evaluation and orientation program.


      • 5 years of CNC machining experience is required; 4 years of manual machining expertise can be substituted for 1 year of CNC machining experience.
      • All tasks mentioned in the Machinist III Technical Training Guide must be completed (TG-Machinist 3).
      • Experience with programming, editing, and set-up
      • able to utilize cutting tools and measuring instruments with ease
      • Understand and read blueprint drawings.

        • Machine Setups for Production Runs
        • Tool/Die/Mold Repair Skills
        • Blueprint Reading
        • Creating Preventive Maintenance Plans
        • Troubleshooting CNC Machines

          • CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC)
          • CNC Lathe (2-4 axis)
          • Manual Vertical Mill
          • Calipers and Micrometers
          • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC)
          • CNC Lathe (5+ axis)
          • Vertical Lathe
