An HES custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities, ensuring every school day runs smoothly and students can focus on learning. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment.

Supported through the Regional Manager, Vice President and the Corporate Office in Knoxville TN

Coordinate and provide assistance for building emergencies (such as fire/flood clean-up, snow/ice removal, etc.), during and after working hours.

Maintain proper inventory levels to support required cleaning and project work

Thoroughly inspect buildings and work being performed. Ensure quality of cleanliness is maintained

Use the QA Program as a tool for remedial training for assigned employees

Ensure employees are following safe work procedures

Responsible for organizing, scheduling, assigning and performing daily work routines.

Must be able to plan and perform major cleaning operations, supervising and following up on assigned work projects, and coordinate major work projects with the manager and or assistant manager

Schedule weekend work as needed

Responsible for training new custodians.

Prepare and maintain Employee Hire Packets, complete and submit Termination Packets, maintain Worker's Compensation reports and files, maintain and track Work Order Requests.

Tabulate payroll hours and submit payroll to corporate office.

Reconcile paychecks with payroll submitted in order to ensure all paychecks have been received. Notify the Manager in the event any time or pay are missing.

Maintain a reminder file for 90 day probationary period, insurance notifications, and vacation eligibility.

Monitors all responsibilities of custodial Supervisor(s).

Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for assigning, checking, and delegating work for employees involved in development areas.

Evaluate and quality control check all work performed by staff to ensure consistent quality.

Perform daily, weekly & monthly quality control audits as required.

Has responsibility for hiring, discipline, recognition, evaluating performance, recommending changes in position or employment status and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
Education Requirements (Any) Bachelor's Degree High School Diploma or Equivalent Additional Information / Benefits
Experience: 3-5 years' experience managing and supervising custodial services

Skills: Basic custodial knowledge, computer literacy, mechanical knowledge, good oral and written communication skills, and good mathematical competency.

Travel: Minimal travel required daily between work locations. Over night travel maybe required for start-ups, training, or company meetings

Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc., and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
