Job Description Medical Solutions Direct Hire is seeking a Histology Technologist for a job in Peoria, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Histology Technologist - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Duration: Ongoing - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Staff Certified Histology Technician (HT/HTL) – Direct Hire Peoria, IL | Pathology Lab – Histology Open to New Grads, Experienced Techs Strongly Preferred Not able to consider candidates needing current or future visa sponsorship Compensation & Incentives - Pay Range: $29.30–$34.47/hr - Weekend Differential: $2.50/hr - Sign?On Bonus Options: - 1?year commitment: $2,500 - 2?year commitment: $5,000 - 3?year commitment: $10,000 Schedule - Five 8?hour shifts every two weeks - 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM - Average 20 hours/week (40 hours per pay period) - Rotating weekends & holidays - No call, no standby - Histology department closes at 22:30 - No required scrub color About the Role Join a high?volume, detail?driven histology lab supporting surgical pathology and diagnostic workflows. You’ll perform routine and complex histology procedures with a strong emphasis on accuracy, case integrity, and quality. New grads receive structured training; experienced techs will step into a fast?paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities - Perform microtomy, embedding, and re?cuts - Troubleshoot difficult blocks and maintain specimen integrity - Execute routine histology procedures and special stains - Support IHC, frozen sections, and immunofluorescence as needed - Handle tissue specimens, cell cultures, and microscopic exams - Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance - Follow CLIA standards and departmental protocols - Work efficiently in a high?volume surgical pathology environment Required Certifications - ASCP?certified HT or HTL - BLS not required Systems & Equipment - EMR: EPIC Beaker - Histology Equipment: Standard microtomes, embedding stations, staining platforms, and related instrumentation Orientation & Support - Structured, department?specific onboarding - New hires work directly with a trainer; not placed alone during training - Supportive team environment with strong communication Additional Notes - Local rate applies to candidates living within 50 miles - Drug?free campus; negative drug screen required - Submission requirements include last 4 of SSN, middle initial, requested time off, and active IL license (or proof of application) DIRECT HIRE CONTACT INFO: /nMATTHEW CHARLES/n About Medical Solutions Direct Hire At Medical Solutions, we’re people who care, helping people who care.
