Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: IL Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. - Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. - Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. - Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. - Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. - Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. - Ability to document care accurately using EMR. - Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. - Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in the professional development of peers. - Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. - Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. - Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety. - Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards. - Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to a Nursing Professional Practice Model. Our focus is on developing caring relationships with patients, families, the community, and colleagues to provide exceptional care. In this unit, nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners provide specialized medical and nursing care to various inpatient units. Medical diagnoses include coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. You will implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care is essential to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. You will complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. You will implement the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifying the plan of care based on continuous evaluation is expected. You will take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication is essential; you should communicate with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Providing constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers is important. You will confer with colleagues to expand your knowledge base and identify your own learning needs while taking the initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is vital. Floating to various inpatient units and providing direct nursing care will be a key part of your role. You will conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care. Acting as a resource to staff from various units is expected. Coordinating care with multidisciplinary team members is essential to facilitate and provide the highest possible quality patient care. Managing care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients will be part of your responsibilities. Collaboratively identifying patient goals of care and designing and maintaining care plans with patients and families is required. You will implement interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects. Preparing patients for procedures, providing pain management, performing IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitoring labs will also be part of your duties. You will discharge patients and provide instruction for their safe transition from the hospital. Documenting all care using EMR is required. Ensuring team huddles occur and attending them is expected. You will delegate tasks with appropriate follow-up and answer call lights promptly. Ensuring basic care, such as turning and toileting, is done per standards of care is crucial. Handling conflict management while maintaining professional communication with all team members is essential.
