1 year in an ICU or Intermediate (Stepdown) setting License: Active
state nursing license Certifications: BLS required; ACLS
recommended Must-Have: - ICU/Intermediate nursing experience with a
nurse to patient ratio of 3 to 1 or 2 to 1. - Experience with trach
and vent patients. - Ability to titrate drips. Description: Care
for patients with a wide range of medical conditions including
COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, renal failure, DKA, alcohol withdrawal,
overdoses, pneumonia, and other respiratory conditions. Experience
in caring for neuro/surgical/cardiac patients is required.
Familiarity with BiPAP, CPAP, face mask ventilation, trach patients
on ventilators, chest tubes, G-tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and
central lines is necessary. Nurse-patient ratios will be maintained
as per the facility's policies. The role requires the ability to
titrate medications including Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone,
Dobutamine, Heparin, and low dose vasopressors. A charge nurse will
be available unless staffing numbers require them to take an
assignment. Patient care technicians will assist on the unit,
providing support to nursing staff. All patients will be monitored
using bedside monitors. Nurses will confirm telemetry strip
interpretations provided by telemetry technicians. Shifts will be
scheduled as 12-hour shifts with a requirement of every other
weekend and every other holiday. Travel nurses may be asked to
float to other units based on current staffing needs. Dress code is
flexible, allowing any color scrubs. Comprehensive orientation on
the electronic medical record system and unit-specific protocols
