Overview To provide clinical oversight of patient care and
continuity, clinical practice, quality, resource utilization, and
patient outcomes surrounding Hemodialysis, Continuous Cycling
Peritoneal Dialysis (CCPD), Stem Cell collection, Therapeutic
Plasma Exchange (TPE), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT),
etc. for Peoria region Qualifications Certifications: Basic Life

Responsibilities Demonstrates ability to assess, plan, facilitate,
and evaluate patient care. - Demonstrates clinical competence in
caring for a wide variety of complex patients through expert
assessment skills, manual and technical skills, and critical
thinking abilities. - Ensures all safety checks and daily
checklists are completed on all machines including the Main Reverse
Osmosis Machine - Continually monitors Joint Commission, AAMI,
standards for dialysis specific changes and implement changes
accordingly. - Continuously monitors microbiological, LAL
endotoxin, and AAMI samples for all required machines, at required
intervals and ensure regional compliance - Remains current and up
to date in area of nursing expertise/practice. - Demonstrates
ability to collaborate with case management team and
interdisciplinary team to identify barriers to patient care. -
Recognizes and monitors trends in delivery of patient care on the
unit and discusses with Director and Medical Director to determine
areas of improvement and/or change. - Demonstrates high level
ability and creativity to solve complex problems to include, but
not limited to, patient flow, staffing needs, and management of
competing priorities/changing demands in order to meet operation
efficiencies (productivity). - Possesses knowledge and skills
necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing. - Performs
patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in
compliance with medical provider’s orders and hospital lab
procedures/policies. Assists in the professional
growth/development, clinical knowledge/skills, and critical
thinking ability of nurses and ancillary team members. - Recognizes
individual and unit education needs based on trends, quality
standards, observation, and care gaps and communicates these timely
to appropriate individuals. - Ensures the clinical competencies are
up today and completed for all Acute Dialysis staff - Performs and
actively assists in mentoring and managing team members in crisis
situations as well as bedside education on the spot when knowledge
gaps or teachable moments are identified and reports feedback
timely to Nurse Manager. - Provides timely, constructive feedback
to team members on performance based on observation and chart
review. - As opportunities present, conducts bedside critical
thinking exercises with nursing team members. Demonstrates
professional accountability and leadership - Actively provides
leadership and direction to achieve patient outcomes. - Ensures
that staffing is appropriate for the workload, and adjust
accordingly at all regional campuses - Holds self and others to
high standards of professional practice, behavior, and actively
supports Nurse Manager/Leadership decisions through actions and
positive, professional communication. - Demonstrates flexibility in
schedule through coverage of weekends and/or holidays as staffing
needs are identified in order to provide safe patient care. -
Develops, monitors and manages positive inter- and intra-shift
related teamwork, peer relations with team members and physicians,
and performs patient rounds utilizing service recovery and conflict
resolution/negotiation. - Attends developmental opportunities such
as Develop U classes and appropriate leadership meetings or
education as determined by the Nurse Manager. Demonstrates ability
to monitor and facilitate quality, safety and resource management
initiatives. - Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, AAMI, FDA,
CMS, IDPH and OSHA standards with all aspects of hemodialysis,
CRRT, peritoneal dialysis, plasma pheresis, and autologous stem
cell collections. - Drives and assists in unit specific performance
improvement initiates and quality metrics such as Core Measures. -
Actively identifies areas of improvement related to resource
consumption such as, but not limited to, length of stay, transition
of IV to PO medications, transfer to lower level of care/discharge.
- Assists team members with identification of events to be reported
(RL Solutions) as well as updates Director in a timely manner. -
Provides guidance, input, and/or assistance in development of
protocols/standards/policy/practice guidelines both unit specific
and organizationally - Drives quality measures through active
auditing and preventative measures, development and dissemination
of education/information, holding team members accountable -
Actively participates in performance improvement/research/evidence

The compensation range for this position is $35.42per hour -
$60.92per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum
range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The
actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a
variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s
experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts
