About the Position Job Title: Neonatal ICU Nurse Manager
Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Manager Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: - Five (5) years of
nursing experience within a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Two (2)
years of experience in nursing supervision or experience as a
charge nurse License: - Must be licensed as a Registered
Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois Certifications: -
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - Current Neonatal
Pulmonary Resuscitation (NRP) card or the ability to obtain within
60 days of hire Must-Have: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a
school of nursing Description: The NICU/Pediatrics Nurse Manager
oversees daily operations, patient care quality, and staff
management for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and associated
pediatric services. Responsibilities include hiring, scheduling,
budgeting, policy development, and ensuring compliance with
regulatory standards. The role involves fostering a positive
environment for caring for critically ill pediatric patients and
their families. The manager works closely with neonatologists,
pediatric specialists, and other staff to enhance patient care
delivery. General administrative responsibilities include reviewing
applicable collective bargaining agreements and consulting with
labor relations to generate management proposals. Participation in
collective bargaining negotiations, caucus discussions, and working
meetings is also required. The manager is responsible for
documentation, recommending, and effectuating discipline as needed.
The role requires consistent use of independent judgment to
identify operational staffing issues and perform necessary
functions such as hiring, transferring, promoting, or disciplining
staff in accordance with applicable agreements. The manager will
contribute to the strategic management of staff and overall
