experience and travel experience on a Med Surg floor. Experience in
a Level 1 trauma center considered if EPIC experience is present.
Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse working in an
adult medical specialty unit. The unit has 56 beds, consisting of
private and semi-private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio during
day shifts is 1:4-5 and during night shifts is 1:5-6. Common
patient diagnoses include cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration,
electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes,
acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and
behavioral health issues. The RNs are not required to titrate
drips, but will handle titratable drips such as heparin and Lasix.
A charge nurse is present on each shift, and they do not carry an
patient load. Patient Care Technicians assist the nursing staff
with vital signs, blood glucose checks, bladder scans, and
activities of daily living, with a ratio of 1:8-10. Respiratory
therapy equipment such as Bipap and Cpap is available for patient
use. Telemetry is monitored remotely, and RNs can view strips on
their devices. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts, with
self-scheduling and block scheduling options available. Every other
weekend and varied holiday availability is required. There is no
on-call or standby requirement. Floating to other acute care
general medicine areas may be necessary. Professional scrubs of any
color are permitted, with guidelines on visible tattoos and
piercings. Unit-specific orientation will take place over 2-3
