Overview
The RN - Interventional Radiology Nurse, provides complete nursing
care and moderate sedation for Interventional Radiology patients
and nursing services for Radiology patients in all radiology
modalities. Responds to and acts upon messages in the
Interventional Radiology In-Basket ensuring all pre procedure,
scheduling, and follow-up needs are addressed in a timely manner.
Will be required to provide nursing care to Interventional patients
in the Cath Prep and Recovery area as needed.
Qualifications
Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year
- American Heart Association (AHA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within
30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Registered
Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and
Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Education: College Diploma:
Nursing, Work Experience: Nursing > 1yr in IR.
Responsibilities
The RN - IR Prep and Recovery provides nursing care to patients
undergoing radiology procedures as required. Provides assistance to
radiology staff as needed. Coordinates with scheduling,
pre-procedure testing, staff, patients, physicians to provide
optimal nursing care and a streamlined patient experience.Provides
direct patient care as the primary Interventional Radiology Nurse,
including moderate sedation. Coordinates with IR Nurse Navigation,
Radiology Technologists, Cath Prep and Recovery charge RN, and
other departmental Svc Line Coordinators to provide proper coverage
for procedures and an efficient patient flow. Will cross train to
provide patient care and procedural coverage in the Cath Prep and
Recovery area. May assist in Cath/IR interventional Lab procedures
and/or other cardiac service areas as needed.Monitors and addresses
messages in the Department In-Basket.Provides leadership,
expertise, and direction for staff from other modalities who are
assisting with radiology procedures.Ensures proper work up and
follow up for Interventional Radiology patients.Maintains knowledge
of current IR procedures and best practices.Responsible/Accountable
for staff and physician satisfaction, efficiency, and workflow
related to service line, facilitating a smooth process for every
patient.Maintain a reasonable supply inventory for procedure
rooms/assigned service line.Provides input to the manager for
equipment purchases.Assists management in maintaining and
developing a budget for supplies and equipment.Maintains constant
flow of communication with leadership, staff, and providers
regarding patient or supply issues.Provides education and
orientation to new and existing staff
members.Responsible/Accountable for daily equipment, temperature,
humidity, anesthesia carts, point of care quality assurance, and
product out dates, and monthly crash cart/emergency equipment
checks.Provides input on performance appraisals for staff to
leadership.Direct nursing care and moderate sedation for IR
patients. Ensures the supplies are available for procedures to be
performed. Provides input on procedure schedule feasibility.
Complete nursing care of patients throughout the Interventional
Radiology process from initial order to post procedure follow
up.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $30.62per hour -
$52.67per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum
range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The
actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a
variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's
experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts
