Company DescriptionRaffles & Fairmont Red Sea, positioned in the
Kingdom's groundbreaking Red Sea Project, will provide visitors
access to a nature-focused resort. With 361 rooms, eleven distinct
dining concepts, including overwater restaurants with views of the
Red Sea and the mangroves, and a spa. The resort will be situated
next to an 18-hole championship golf course, reflecting Fairmont's
association as a world-class golf destination. It will set new
standards in sustainable development, positioned on 200km of
untouched coastline, an archipelago of more than 90 unspoiled
islands, dormant volcanoes, rich marine habitats, and ancient
archaeological sites.Job DescriptionAs the Assistant Director of
Engineering, you will assist the Cluster Director of Engineering in
a crucial role during the transition of the Resort from the
construction and opening phase to fully operational status. You
will provide leadership and direction across the engineering team
while ensuring seamless compliance with Fairmont standards and
brand expectations.What you'll do
- Oversee the handover process from construction to daily hotel
operations, ensuring compliance with quality and safety
standards.
- Develop and implement the Preventative Maintenance Program for
guest rooms, public areas, and safety systems while working closely
with Operational Divisions.
- Provide the technical information for repair, maintenance,
operation, modification, and replacement activities to ensure all
jobs are performed correctly.
- Oversee the landscaping of the hotel and pool maintenance.
- Participate in the preparation of CAPEX expenditures for the
hotel, as well as annual budget preparation for the department and
monthly forecasting with commentary.
- Recruit, schedule, complete payroll, conduct performance
reviews, and implement training, development, and engagement
strategies for all engineering team members.
- Coordinate and manage outside contractors, including sourcing
appropriate suppliers, preparing purchase orders, and facilitating
supplier negotiations.
- Assist in monitoring energy and water management programs.
- Monitor, update, and implement fire safety plans, building
evacuation, and disaster recovery plans.
- Coordinate and complete all audits related to engineering and
risk management.
- Manage the hotel emergency response team in coordination with
security and hotel management.
- Actively participate in the hotel's energy management,
Occupational Health & Safety, and environmental programs.
- Ensure compliance with all city and state regulations and
ordinances.
- Perform inspections of the property and monitor compliance with
government and city regulations to ensure safety for guests and
employees.
- Balance operational, administrative, and colleague needs.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment, emphasizing
colleague and guest health and safety.
- Assist in overall management responsibilities as needed.
- Follow department policies, procedures, and service
standards.Qualifications
- Previous pre-opening experience within the luxury industry is
required.
- Previous leadership experience in the Engineering/Maintenance
field, preferably in a pre-opening and operational luxury hotel
setting.
- Proven supervision of various building maintenance and
construction trades, including work scheduling, project management,
and personnel management.
- Technical knowledge of electrical, HVAC, refrigeration,
plumbing, and all areas of engineering.
- Knowledge of local municipal codes, regulations, fire
department requirements, and building testing.
- Engineering degree/diploma and/or valid trade qualifications
are preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications is required.
- Service-focused personality with a passion for
hospitality.
- Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with
stakeholders, including contract teams, consultants, and
vendors.
- Excellent communication skills and strong networking
abilities.
- Results-oriented with flexibility and the ability to work well
under pressure.
- Ability to lead by example, foster a strong team culture, and
