This position is an initial one-year grant funded position which is expected to continue with renewed grant funding for 5 total years. It oversees the newly created Center for Academic Success in HealthCare and will be responsible for assisting students to achieve their educational goals as they consider whether college and healthcare are the right fit. They will work closely with students in all Allied Health and nursing programs to provide educational advocacy. Support students by promoting the use of wrap-around support services; serve as a remediation instructor for students struggling with application of concepts from theory to clinical; mentor and track student progress; assist with quiz and examination preparation; and assist with the recruitment of students to healthcare programs. This position will provide a creative, compassionate, persistent person with the opportunity to be a part of a strong network of critical support that helps students focus on the path to a college graduation. Responsible for overseeing the department's daily operations, managing professional full time/ part time staff as well as student part time staff, and developing supplementary programs that support student academic growth and achievement. Also responsible for grant metrics, reporting, budgeting, gathering and analyzing information to formulate specific recommendations which would enhance the number of student completions in Healthcare programs. Responsible for conducting training and workshops on student retention, study skills, and professional development and represent the college at community meetings as requested.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Formulate the goals and policies of the CASH; determine its objectives, programs, and services; establish standards of performance.
2.Provide leadership for a multi-diversified staff, including part-time secretary and peer tutors;
3.Assist administration in the coordination of specialized support program or academic service; duties include student advising, supporting the intake process for students utilizing the services, data collection utilizing student retention software, reporting and assessment.
4.Provide intentional advising and referral for students in the healthcare related fields; serve as an agent of the Registrar and authorize course withdrawals, adds, drops, as needed.
5.Assist to students on academic warning, probation or suspension; recommend the best educational path for degree/certificate completion.
6.Evaluate and make recommendations on petitions and amendments to student's program of study; monitor academic progress; maintain student files and records; evaluate transfer transcripts for equivalencies.
7.Ensure a seamless transition for transfer students by providing transfer advising and referral to senior colleges or universities.
8.Identify patterns in interrupted (stop out) student degree completion (withdrawal, probation, course failures) and develop strategies to support student retention.
9.Develop monthly reports highlighting student progress via the intentional academic advising model utilizing data from the academic intervention software.
10.Manage the data collection and assessment of the assigned specialized support program or academic service.
11.Refer at-risk/high-risk students, students with personal or life concerns to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities for counseling support and referral, as needed.
12.Collaborate with academic Chair and/or Dean to support outreach efforts to recruit students in the discipline at internal and external events/fairs.
13.Organize outreach campaigns to provide support for students in the discipline cohort; work in collaboration with the Communication Center to assist in the development and delivery of campaigns, as needed.
14.Become thoroughly familiar and comply with college policies and procedures.
15.Administer yearly budgets; write grant proposals, maintain fiscal oversight; prepare all required reports.
16.Represent the College and serve as its liaison.
17.Devise strategies to expand the electronic, telecommunications, and technological capabilities and connectivity of the CASH.
18.Assume other duties as may be assigned; available to travel to other campuses; some evenings and weekends may be required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bachelor's degree in healthcare or education related area.
2.Minimum one-year experience of academic advising.
3.Knowledge of standards and best practices in high education advising
4.Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, time management, human relations, problem-solving skills, and training and presentation skills.
5.Strong technical data evaluation, analysis, and reporting skills.
6.Familiarity with college Student Information and Reporting systems such as Ellucian (formerly Datatel).
7.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Master's Degree in a Healthcare or education related field
2.Community College experience.
3.Colleague, degree audit and retention planning database experience.
4.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
1.Normal office physical demands.
2.Ability to travel and work between campus locations and to and from community events.
3.Ability to travel in state and nationally.
