Job Description Job Description We are looking for a
detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract
basis in Lansing, Michigan. In this role, you will play a vital
part in managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in
reporting, and maintaining compliance with company accounting
practices. This position is within the insurance industry and
requires strong organizational and analytical skills to support
various financial operations. Responsibilities: • Prepare and
analyze journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. •
Manage the general ledger to ensure proper classification and
organization of financial data. • Perform account reconciliations,
including cash and bank accounts, to verify accuracy and resolve
discrepancies. • Utilize Oracle Fusion and other financial systems
to support accounting functions. • Handle cash applications and
accounts receivable processes efficiently. • Generate internal
financial reports to aid in decision-making and compliance. •
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address
financial inquiries and updates. • Develop and apply advanced Excel
skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP, to streamline financial
reporting. • Ensure compliance with regulations and company
policies in all financial activities. • Assist in identifying and
implementing process improvements for greater efficiency.• Proven
experience in journal entries and general ledger management. •
Familiarity with Oracle Fusion or similar HCM SaaS platforms. •
Strong background in accounts receivable and cash application
processes. • Proficiency in performing accurate account
reconciliations. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot
tables and VLOOKUP. • Ability to produce detailed internal
financial reports. • Excellent communication skills for interacting
with both internal teams and external parties. • Previous
experience in the insurance or financial sector is a plus.
